NettetYou become thane after the dragon. Every time you become thane you get a weapon from the Jarl. In Vanilla Skyrim Balgruf gives you the Axe of Whiterun. However, Legacy of the Dragonborn they change it to "Sword". But they did it in a very odd way. Not sure why. They give you the AXE, then take the axe away, and give you the sword. Go figure.
