Environmental problems are a highly debated topic these days. Huge amounts of fossil fuels have to be burned to transport food to distant places. WebGrowing locally saves money for the community’s farmers. Farmers are not getting the money because it is spent on produce that is shipped and traveled long distances. “Locavores argue that buying local food supports an area’s farmers and, in turn, strengthens the community” (McWilliams).
